Inconel 690 Socket Weld Fittings Applications
Alloy 690 forged Socket Welding (SW) fittings are mainly used to permanently join pipes that are inserted into a recess in the fitting, flange, or valve. Once correctly inserted, fillet-type sealing welds are applied to join the pipe to the fitting. It is commonly known as SW pipe fittings, with SW elbows, SW couplings, and SW tees being examples of different types. Grade 690 Socket weld fittings have high leakage integrity and structural strength and can be used to change the direction of travel for pipe networks as well as join pipes at different angles and of different diameters.
Inconel Alloy 690 is a high-chromium nickel alloy having excellent resistance to many corrosive aqueous media and high-temperature atmospheres. The alloy’s high chromium content gives it excellent resistance to metal dusting, caturisation, oxidation and sulfidation at high temperatures. In addition, alloy 690 has high strength, favorable fabrication characteristics, and good metallurgical stability.
