Alloy K500 forged threaded fittings are mainly used for joining piping systems for small pipe diameters (Small Bore Piping); it is one of the oldest methods generally for pipes where the nominal diameter is NPS 2 or smaller. Grade K500 Threaded piping is commonly used in low-cost, noncritical applications such as fire protection, domestic water, and industrial cooling water systems. UNS N05500 Threaded Tee is used at places where welding is not permitted as they do not require welding.
Monel K-500 is a unique nickel-copper superalloy and offers many of the benefits of Monel 400, but with strength and hardness. Monel K-500 is also known for its ease of fabrication compared to other superalloys, and the fact that it is essentially nonmagnetic even at low temperatures.
