Cu-Ni 90/10 forged threaded fittings are mainly used for joining piping systems for small pipe diameters (Small Bore Piping); it is one of the oldest methods generally for pipes where the nominal diameter is NPS 2 or smaller. Grade 90/10 Threaded piping is commonly used in low-cost, noncritical applications such as fire protection, domestic water, and industrial cooling water systems. UNS C70600 Threaded Tee is used at places where welding is not permitted as they do not require welding.
CUNI 90/10 Offers excellent corrosion resistance, especially in marine salt water environments. The main, wrought copper-nickel alloys chosen for sea water service contain 10 or 30 percent nickel. It has a nominal temperature coefficient of electric resistance. Alloy 90/10 prevents stress corrosion cracking and pitting and crevice corrosion.
